Sustainability at the Core: Waterless Plating Saves 2.5 Million Litres Annually
At the heart of the upgrades is a new waterless plating machine, which will save an estimated 2.5 million litres of water per year. This technology eliminates the need for water and chemicals traditionally used in plate processing, aligning with W&G Baird’s mission to reduce its environmental footprint without compromising print quality.
New Bacciottini Pit Stop Crease Folder: Smooth Finish, Minimal Cracking
The addition of the Bacciottini Pit Stop Crease Folder introduces advanced creasing and folding capabilities for heavier card stocks and leaflets (170gsm to 300gsm). This high-spec machine is engineered to minimise cracking along spines, making it ideal for premium brochures, covers, and folded cards. The result is a smooth, rounded edge and a more refined finish—especially valuable for high-impact marketing materials.
Automated Shrink Wrapping with SMIpack BP802AS H500
To improve packaging efficiency and product protection, W&G Baird has installed the SMIpack BP802AS H500, a high-speed automated shrink wrapper. This machine offers long-term protection and excellent presentation for printed materials by securely sealing products in a clear, visible package—perfect for storage, transport, and display.
Eco-Friendly Packaging Alternatives: Paper Wrap Replacing Poly
In a further push toward sustainability, W&G Baird is now offering printed and unprinted paper wrap or banded finishes in place of traditional plastic shrink wrap, where suitable. This move supports a more eco-conscious packaging solution, significantly reducing single-use plastic usage and aligning with the growing demand for greener print services.
Colour Accuracy You Can Trust: Fogra 39 Calibrated HD Proofs
To ensure unmatched colour fidelity, the company has also implemented Fogra 39 Colour Calibrated HD Proofing, meeting the international standard for colour accuracy. This technology enables ultra-precise match-print proofs and uses fingerprint-matched technology, so what clients see in the proof is exactly what will be delivered in the final print.
