The Launch of ‘Revisitando Carlo Scarpa e Castelvecchio’
We are thrilled to announce our recent collaboration with David Arkell from & Printed, in the production of ‘Revisitando Carlo Scarpa e Castelvecchio’.
This remarkable book, exploring the genius of Italian architect and designer Carlo Scarpa’s work on the Castelvecchio in Verona, required great care and attention in order to bring his work to life. Carlo Scarpa worked on the Castelvecchio between 1957 and 1975 and it is regarded as one of his most important projects. This book is a celebration of Scarpa’s architectural legacy, and the craftsmanship that went into its publication reflects this,
The book comprises an 8 page cover (4 pages plus 150mm flaps), printed on 300gsm silk with an anti-scruff laminated finish; and a 384 page text on 170gsm silk, bound with thread-sewm binding. Each copy is carefully shrink-wrapped, housed in a bespoke printed outer presentation box.

After working alongside David Arkell on the English version of this book in previous years, the Italian edition was successfully printed and delivered to Verona in time for a book launch last week.
Commenting on the collaboration, David Arkell said:
“I have worked with W&G Baird on both the English version and presently the Italian version of Carlo Scarpa, written by Richard Murphy.
In both cases I was very impressed with all aspects of how the team worked together on this large publication, 384 pages of colour, thread sewn with an 8 page cover.
We came over to Belfast to press pass. The Minders were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I knew from the first pass that we were in safe hands, which was proved in both cases. As with any job of this size and quality, there were a few issues thrown into the mix but these were overcome professionally and efficiently.”
Copies of this book are flying across the world to Milan, London and Edinburgh, and we are very proud that we continue to work with David Arkle and the team at & Printed on such fascinating projects.
